I have ideas for projects that could generate income, and dreams for a reiki/wellness buisiness–and all of it is scattered. I also have a rocky marriage and my spouse is uncomfortable at best with the idea of my practicing reiki, and wants me at least to have a regular, steady, secure job while I work at creating a buisiness. I desire fulfilling work that allows me to remain the primary caregiver for our two school-age sons (I have been a stay-at-home mom for 8 years), and I am so open to Spirit’s guidance. Yet I worry that if I work full time at a “regular” job, I will never have time to create something else. How might I manage these issues: 1. feeling very isolated with my ideas, having no one to help me flesh them out, 2. feeling overwhelmed by the practical steps needed to create a business, and 3. my spouse’s discomfort with (at times opposition to) my goals?
Thank you for any insights you might offer.
    Blessings to you!!

Hi Pamela, I am in a very demanding sales job which requires many short trips overseas, late nights and early mornings. Much as I love the travel, my salary is very low and my sales targets. are out of reach – so no bonuses. I am exhausted and permanently overwhelmed and feel trapped at age 54 with no pension or provision for my later years. Last year I wrote two books but have hardly even started to market them. I stayed up till 2 OO am most nights to write them but am not inspired to stay up so late marketing them and developing my own author/speaker/sacred tour leader business. I also struggle to prioritize tasks. When i dont know what to do, I do nothing, paralysed with fear and fatigue. My accounting system looks like a bunch of random receipts hidden from sight in plastic bags.:( My dream is to quit my job at the end of August, live 6 months of the year in South Africa and 6 months in Europe and thrive from writing, speaking, sacred tours and sacred ceremonies. The question is: Is this possible with your help? And would you accept the challenge? I think I am a classic case of near fatal overwhelm. Please use me as a ‘before and after’ case study if it would serve your business. In surrender. Thanks and love, Steph.

If a person has had training in a number of effective modalities, but then has lots of ideas for a target market and continues to go around and around trying to focus on one – are they just using that as a distracting tactic to avoid starting a business and getting it off the ground? Procrastination?

    Pamela,

I have too many options (ideas), too little resources.

I have an idea for a new blog – bushiness entitled Tiny House, Big dreams.
    I paint.
    I write.
I eventually want to do a movie. I have a good idea of what I want to do.

I try to develop a Leonardo Profile with more than one dimension.

I have serious ethical limitations that make me ignore most opportunities. I’m looking for a Vocation with a Social dimension.I also think that Productivity in the Dreaming -Visioneering Stage may be counter-productive. I stopped worrying about just bringing in the money or selling. I’ve done that most of my life. I’m ready for something unproductively creative..lol

    Much love.

I work from home and part time and frequently find that house clutter and mundane tasks can pull me away from my needs. Because I don’t have a deadline it is easy to drift. I usually start to apply myself on day 2 and get in the zone and then have to leave things til the next week and spend the next few days in a different mindset being a mum. I think the main issue for me is that I have always ( since being a young child)been in an anxious state when concentrating on work or study in the past ( due to illogical but deeprooted my fear of failure)and I am petrified of trigging the uncomfortable feelings of anxiety that I have come to accept is an inextricable part of focussing and getting things done.

So I am scared of feeling uncomfortable and this means I fear doing those tasks that require utmost concentration and important decision making will feel unpleasant because it will automatically engage my anxiety response mechanism

Thanks in advance, your wonderful volunteer tapping on Powerless and your tapping into having the powerful switch turned off resonated deeply. This is something my organization struggles with on a daily basis, with a different reason: Bipolar disorder. This looks powerful enough to help them as well as myself (Bipolar as well), episodes last days, to months and years, especially clinically depression. Could you give a message especially about this technique to help when we feel powerless because our condition sends us spiraling down eventhough we are trying so hard?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE what you are saying. I totally am going to step into these as it comes at the right time because I am setting systems in place as I am most productive when I have structure. However, how do I best clear my slate. 22,000 emails in in box, etc. Do I got back and clean up or just start now?

    • admin

Debra – I’d put the into a ‘past emails’ box, and start fresh – going back through 22,000 emails sounds like too daunting a task. However, when you start, you’ll need to really stick to your new rules! (Hint: Productivity and Profit can help!)
      Warmly,

This is great so far, but I have set up a calendar, have notifications pushed to me from my cell phone when I am to be the boss, when I am to be the employee.

I keep a list per project, but lately I have begun to do what you call “brain dump” listing on paper, keeping it in my favorite book. Things got better once I did that.

My income has improved, opportunities have improved, but I am still not where I would like to be with income, with my art making, with my household management.

I’m kinda a crappy employee. I will flat out ignore my own directives. I do this with my finances, too. I have systems in place and I will ignore them.

My goal is to hire people to do the tasks that drive me crazy, so I would like to have a more gracious money flow.

How do I put all these pieces together to get to having employees other than myself to increase he number of projects I can handle at once and finally get all these writing projects out to the world?

    • admin

      Hi, Anna,
First – great work! You’ve done some really powerful things already.
Your question is a great one! I think that the ‘Productivity & Profit’ program would help you find the reframes and new perspectives that would help you implement many of the new ideas that you have. It would help you become a ‘better employee.’ 🙂

      Warmly,
      Pamela

My project is content creation, and the reason that I am procrastinating is that the exercise is futile or pointless and there is something else I should be doing that would be more impactful.

Note that there is always a webinar or comment that will denigrate the recommendations of another, for instance, saying “blogging is broken” and no longer effective.

If you could comment on “there’s bound to be a better idea somewhere” I’d be obliged.

    .

    • admin

      Hi, Kent,
The truth is that for all marketing or business endeavors, some things work and some things don’t. Unfortunately, it’s not consistent or guaranteed. You have to be willing to try things and fail – if you look for the ‘sure thing’ you will usually be disappointed.
Instead, I’d use the reframe: I can try many different things, and some of them will work beautifully.
      Warmly,
      Pamela

I so appreciate the “perfection” issue. I am a perfectionist too; however, I am an architectural drafter, and perfection is critical. Much of my work gets delayed because of one element or another that needs to be tweaked to perfection. There is an actual judge of “perfect” that is physics, so I’m not sure how to tackle that. Thanks!

    • admin

      Jacquelyn –
Great question! Certainly there are professions where accuracy is more important – surgeons and air traffic controllers immediately come to mind. However, there is the focus and attention on accuracy, which is good, and the worry and tension about it, which is not productive. Which energy are you exhibiting?

  33. Laura

My procrastination is that I am not confident, or am unsure that the decision I make is the right one. So I re-think it over and over again.

    Any suggestions ?

    • admin

      Laura –
You’re not alone! This is a great issue to tap on, because we can seldom know that our decisions are the right ones. Time may prove decisions better or worse, but our view of a good or bad decision can change again over time. So being confident with your decisions is more about eliminating the worry about fear of failure in the moment, than trying to make sure you’re perfect. If you’re focusing on overcoming your lack of confidence by trying to make sure your decisions always turn out right – it’s a self-defeating situation. Use tapping instead to feel better about your decisions.

Overwhelm leads to paralysis for me. Nothing gets done. Thoughts on overcoming this problem?

    • admin

Beth – good question. You’re probably focusing on too many things at once. Can you just pick one thing and do it, no matter how small? Taking action will often get you into action, and then you can keep moving.

I’ve used tapping to great success before, but I feel much more overwhelmed after tapping along than I did at the top of the call. How common is that? How can I reverse it?

    • admin

Erin – keep tapping! It’s not uncommon for you to feel more intensity as you tap, because you’re getting in touch with the issue. If you keep tapping, the uncomfortable feelings will fade.

    Utterly fantastic live stream presentation!!!
    Content, format, practical applications….simplicity of

Lots of tapping too…..all was wonderful!
A model for how to do an

Would that my late husband and I had had this
approach before he died. Our business died with him
unfortunately and I’m in overwhelm just doing what

    • admin

      Nancy – I so sympathize!
I want to clarify – is it the lack of funds that has you overwhelmed? Or is it doing the administrative trivia that is sapping your energy?
It may be a combination of both, but you’ll deal with them in different ways, so clarifying is good.

when it comes to “rules” it seems that one must understand thier values and their priority or order. if you beleive that is true can you comment a little on how to uncover or become aware of values.
    Thanks.

    • admin

Machen – very true! You can start with listing all possible values – and be specific. Any time you have decision-making to do, making a list is helpful. So you might start with ‘Will bring me profit’ ‘Feeds my soul’ ‘creates great relationships’ as some of your values. What are others?
      Warmly,
      Pamela

  41. Nancy

When I’m already in overwhelm, it causes a sort of brain freeze and probably not the best decision being made in that situation. Also not even knowing where to start because it seems like there is a spiral of decisions that will follow. How do I ‘unfreeze’ my brain? : )

    • admin

Nancy – it’s a great question! You’re right, when you take one step there are other decisions behind that. However, start with your brain-dump list (from video 1). Do you have a step-by-step plan in building your business? Are you still second-guessing yourself? (I’d recommend the Productivity and Profit program – it will help you streamline the decision-making process.)

I don’t know how to determine the best way to market our boutique intellectual property law firm. We are old-fashioned and believe in word of mouth advertising but now understand that we must market or advertise on the Internet. However, the last firm we paid to create a website and advertise for us took our money and did not give us value or useful advertising (e.g., paying for Google ad words that had almost no chance of bringing us clients). So I do not even know how to select someone reliable who can advise/teach/help me in this area. [I have been procrastinating on seeking new clients for our firm.]

How can overcome undue procrastination and avoid stress at the same time?

    • admin

A lot of it has to do with rules – when you implement rules about what you do and what you don’t, you can reduce procrastination and avoid stress. Also, tapping can both reduce stress, and reduce the fear that leads to procrastination.

@Jane – on tapping without getting to the core issues

Are you familiar with the concept of low-hanging fruit. That principle applies in our internal world, too. It’s easy to get the obvious things that are causing us problems. But as we become more congruent, it becomes harder and harder to see the things that are causing us problems because they appear to be *us*, they are *us*. Some suggestions:

Do a personal peace procedure. Diligently, every day.

Be mindful. Often those issues reveal themselves in flashes of insight in the middle of everyday life, as a reaction to a situation we are in. If we aren’t watching for them, we miss them.

Meditate. This allows those issues to clear themselves, because meditation changes who we are over time.

Use another method that resolves subconscious issues. We can get in a rut by using EFT only. Hypnotherapy, NLP, Sedona method, brainwave entrainment, dream therapy, core transformation. There are others.

Form a reciprocal tapping relationship with someone else, what is called a tapping buddy. Choose this person carefully. Issues that are invisible to you will be obvious to them, because they are looking from outside. When you examine yourself, you are using the self that incorporates the issues to examine. Somewhat like trying to lift yourself by your ankles.

Good fortune. The fact that you are so persistent makes it likely that you will eventually have success. But don’t think that your life isn’t worth living only if you have success. Enjoy the journey.

Ona – it sounds like there is a real story in there. Here’s an answer: Clutter is also a problem (or challenge)in that it IS something that you need to deal with, just as you might have to deal with some reputation damage. You’re right, doing nothing is a decision. If you feel that a chat would be useful to sort this out, please email support@makeyoursuccesseasy.com.

I will be unable to attend the first livestream training, so am hoping there is a replay available.

As a new business owner, with 2 businesses, I find it difficult to carve out a schedule and routine for my days, as I did when I was in a corporate setting. I would like suggestions on this and accountability.

I make lists daily, on 4×6 notecards. Instead of crossing out items as completed, I highlight them, so I can see what I accomplished, rather than what I did not.

I do find myself waiting til the last minute and making heroic efforts to finish projects on time, and this takes a toll physically, mentally & emotionally. I’d like to be a more consistent worker, who focuses and completes tasks without such drama!

It is Thursday, March 28 and I rescheduled my day in order to take part in Ending
Overwhelm Now. Pamela, this is the second time I’ve tuned in to Ending Overwhelm Now. Both times your promised live stream was not accessible. Your two intro videos are, but not the promised program. Now I see your program is rescheduled for Saturday evening. I cannot rearrange my schedule again.
